Here’s what you need to know to stay ahead of the curve.

What’s In for 2025?

I am seeing a shift toward warm, inviting spaces and functional designs that cater to both aesthetics and everyday living. Here’s what I expect to dominate:

• Natural tones, textures, and earthy palettes: I anticipate a continued rise in warm, natural tones and materials like wood and terracotta, combined with earthy neutrals and light, airy whites. These elements create a tranquil, grounded ambiance while enhancing architectural details and millwork, adding depth and character to any room.

• Vintage-inspired chic: investing in antique furniture and secondhand finds will replace big-box retailer staples. “There’s something special about pieces with history,”. These unique additions help create curated, one-of-a-kind spaces that feel authentic.

• Wallpaper and painted ceilings: “Lots and lots of wallpaper,” I predict, paired with contrasting trim and ceiling colors. Bold patterns and textures can instantly transform a room, adding depth and character. Painted ceilings, a growing trend, offer a creative way to bring color into a space without overwhelming it.

• Functional spaces: I emphasize the importance of separate work areas to accommodate work-from-home lifestyles. As hybrid work continues, having defined spaces for productivity is increasingly valued by buyers. There is a growing popularity of multi-purpose spaces, with buyers opting for functional and frequently used areas rather than redundant ones like a breakfast area and a dining room.

• Smart home integration: I see clean lines and uncluttered spaces complemented by smart technology features. From voice-activated lighting to app-controlled thermostats, these innovations make everyday life more convenient and appealing.

What’s Out in 2025?

Some once-beloved trends are now falling out of favor. Here’s what trends are on the decline:

• Farmhouse style: I see this trend, along with black hardware and gray interiors, continuing to decline. While these elements were popular for years, buyers are now gravitating toward designs that feel fresher and more contemporary.

• Open concept layouts: the buyers are moving away from open floor plans in favor of defined, functional rooms. “People want spaces that serve specific purposes,”.

• All-white kitchens: these spaces feel too sterile compared to today’s warmer, more dynamic kitchens. Instead, expect to see kitchens with colorful cabinetry, bold backsplashes, and layered textures.
